What a clearance involves

Every garden is different, so we start by looking at what is there and agreeing what should stay. Then we cut back overgrowth, clear brambles and weeds from beds and borders, take down unwanted shrubs, rake out leaves and debris, and clear paths and patios so you can see the garden again. The waste is loaded up and removed, so you are not left with bags to deal with.

Storm and weather clean-ups

High winds and heavy rain can leave branches, broken fence sections, scattered leaves and debris across a garden in one night. Storm clean-up is one of the services we offer, and it often overlaps with fencing and minor outdoor repairs, which we also cover. That means one team can clear the mess and sort the damage rather than you arranging several trades.

Clearance versus regular maintenance

A clearance is a one-off reset. Regular maintenance is what stops the garden needing another clearance a year later. Many of our long-term customers started with a clearance and then moved on to weekly or fortnightly visits covering mowing, edging, weeding, hedge trimming and leaf clearance. There is no obligation to do that, but it is usually the most cost-effective way to keep a garden under control once it is back in shape.

Green waste and rubbish

Green waste, rubbish and debris clearance is part of what we do, so you do not need to hire a skip or make repeated trips to the tip. We tell you upfront what we are taking away so there are no surprises on the day.

How the day usually runs

On a typical clearance we agree the plan when we arrive, walking the garden with you to confirm what stays and what goes. Plants you want to keep are marked or protected before any cutting starts. We then work from the outside in, clearing boundaries and beds, then shrubs and overgrowth, then lawns and hard surfaces. Waste is gathered as we go, so the garden does not become a mess halfway through, and everything is swept and raked at the end.

If you are not sure what is worth saving, ask. After 18 years working in local gardens we can usually tell which shrubs will recover with a hard cut and which are past saving.

What happens next

Once the clearance is done, you will have a much clearer idea of what the garden could be. Some customers want new turf, raised beds or fence repairs next, all of which we offer. Others simply want to keep on top of it with regular visits. Either way, you are starting from a clean slate rather than trying to catch up.

• Tell us about any items you want to hold on to, such as old pots or furniture
• Photos sent with your enquiry help us plan the right amount of time
• Clear access to the garden, such as a side gate, speeds things up

Clearances are not only for homes. We also clear overgrown areas around offices, new build developments, industrial units and hospitality venues, whether that is a one-off tidy before handover or the start of an ongoing grounds maintenance arrangement.
