Before and after of a lawn edge and border tidied

Lawn Weed Control

Lawn weed control is part of Prime Outdoor Services' seasonal lawn care programme. It addresses weeds within the grass rather than treating a lawn as though it were a bare border or path. Our Winnersh-based service covers Wokingham and the stated surrounding areas, with the plan discussed around the lawn's condition and the work needed.

Look at the grass as well as the weeds

Weeds are only one part of the condition of a lawn. Thin grass, bare patches, moss and wear can occur together, so the first conversation should describe the whole surface. Tell us whether weeds are scattered through otherwise sound grass or concentrated where the lawn is already struggling. That helps distinguish a treatment enquiry from a larger renovation request.

A lawn weed control service is not the same as clearing an overgrown garden. Border weeding, driveway-edge weeding and removing green waste are separate maintenance jobs. If you need those as well, name them in your enquiry. A treatment plan for grass should not be assumed to cover every weed growing elsewhere on the property.

Seasonal treatments within the lawn programme

The Essential programme includes four seasonal feed, weed and moss-control visits. Complete adds one annual scarify and aerate, while Premium adds overseeding and a mid-season health check. Optional regular mowing can be discussed. Choose a programme around the treatments and renovation work your lawn needs.

Monthly or yearly payment is a preference discussed with the programme, and the quote depends on lawn size. The programme is quoted after looking at your lawn, its condition and its size. A particular plan should be chosen for the condition of the lawn and the agreed work, not because every weedy lawn is assumed to need the most extensive option.

When renovation may matter more

Treatments can be considered for lawns that are broadly sound but tired, pale or weedy. Where the surface is spongy with thatch, extensively mossy or thin throughout, scarifying and reseeding may also need discussion. Lawn renovation is a separate stage of work that opens the surface and introduces new grass; it is not simply a different name for weed treatment.

The lawn care hub explains scarifying, overseeding and turfing so you can compare the options. Removing weeds alone will not solve shade, wear or poor drainage. If the same bare areas return each year, describe their location and use. Understanding those patterns is more useful than repeatedly requesting a treatment without looking at the wider problem.

Mowing and ongoing maintenance

Regular mowing, edging and strimming keep a lawn tidy, while treatments address other aspects of its condition. These jobs can be joined up, but a grass-cutting visit does not automatically include weed-control work. Tell us whether you already have regular maintenance and want lawn care discussed alongside it, or whether your enquiry is for treatment work alone.

After agreed renovation work, our existing lawn care service includes advice on watering and mowing height to help new growth establish. Any treatment-specific instructions should be discussed for the actual work being proposed. At booking, ask about the product being used and when people and pets can use the lawn again.

What to include in a weed-control enquiry

Describe the approximate lawn size, the amount of weed growth and any moss or bare patches. Mention shade, heavy foot traffic and areas used by pets, as those features can affect the overall maintenance conversation. Photographs that show the lawn as a whole are useful alongside a close-up of the plants you are concerned about.

Weed control is quoted according to the condition and size of the lawn and the work agreed. Ask which visits or renovation stages are included and how the work relates to the programme you are considering. A quote for seasonal lawn care is different from a one-off garden tidy. Keeping that distinction clear makes it easier to compare options and choose the right next step.

Do you sell weed-control products here?

Is border weeding included in lawn treatment?

Not automatically. Border weeding is part of garden maintenance and should be requested separately so the scope is clear.
