Team removing moss from a tiled roof with poles from ladders

Roof Moss Removal Wokingham

Prime Outdoor Services removes moss from tiled roofs by hand, using scrapers and extension poles from ladders. We then clear the gutters and downpipes of the moss that comes down. Roof moss removal in Wokingham needs an approach suited to the tiles, their condition and the available access.

A hand-removal approach for tiled roofs

Moss can sit in thick clumps across roof tiles and along their edges. Removing that build-up is different from washing a patio or driveway. We use hand tools and extension poles rather than jet washing tiled roofs. Roof material, condition, shape and access need to be considered before deciding whether the work is suitable.

Describe the roof as clearly as you can when enquiring. A main house roof, a garage roof and a lower bay roof can have quite different access arrangements. Mention extensions, conservatories, narrow side passages and any damage you already know about. Photographs taken safely from the ground can show the overall layout without requiring you to climb up.

Why the gutters are part of the job

Moss removed from a roof does not simply disappear. Some of it falls towards the gutters, so clearing the gutters and downpipes of that material is part of our roof moss removal. Leaving the debris at the roof edge would undermine the purpose of the work. If a gutter already overflows, mention it before the roof work is discussed so the existing problem is not confused with newly removed moss.

The gutter-clearing part should not be mistaken for repairs to gutter joints, damaged tiles or the roof covering itself. Cleaning and removal do not make an unsound roof sound. Where a roof has a known defect, explain that first so you can distinguish the maintenance request from work that may need a roofing specialist.

Our roof moss removal work

These photographs show Prime's roof moss removal work, including tiled garage roofs, clay tiles, concrete tiles and a removal job in progress. The before-and-after photographs show the roofs before removal and the results afterwards. The finish depends on the tiles and their condition.

Your roof needs to be assessed on its own condition rather than matched to a photograph. The amount of moss, the shape of the tiles and the safe working position all affect how a removal job is planned.

Conservatory roof cleaning is a separate request

We also clean conservatory roofs, glass and frames to lift green algae, moss and dirt, and can clear conservatory gutters on the same visit. A conservatory roof is not the same surface as a tiled house roof. Tell us whether your enquiry concerns the conservatory, the main roof or both, so the agreed scope makes that distinction clear.

There is no need to stand on a conservatory roof or attempt to reach it from an upstairs window to inspect it for a quote. A photograph of the roof from a safe position and a description of the side access are more useful. If panels, seals or frames are already damaged, include that information in your enquiry.

Roof moss removal cost and choosing a service

An average cost of roof moss removal cannot describe every building. Roof area, pitch, height, access and the extent of the build-up change the work involved. We quote after discussing your roof and the work needed. Make sure any comparison includes how moss is removed and what happens to gutter debris.

Instead of relying on claims about the best roof moss removal company, look for a clear explanation of the proposed method and its limits. Ask which roof sections are included, how access will be arranged and what clearing is included afterwards. Those details are more useful than a broad promise about the appearance or lifespan of the roof.

Common questions

Do you pressure wash tiled roofs?

Our roof moss removal uses scrapers and extension poles by hand from ladders. It is separate from driveway and patio jet washing.

Are gutters cleared afterwards?

Yes. We clear the gutters and downpipes of the moss that comes down during removal.

Will moss stay away permanently?

Moss can return; conditions around the roof and future maintenance affect how quickly it builds up again.
