Solar Panel Cleaning
Solar panel cleaning is not interchangeable with roof moss removal or patio jet washing. Check the system guidance and access requirements before arranging cleaning, and ask us about it when you get in touch.

Check the system guidance first
Begin with the panel manufacturer's maintenance instructions and the information supplied by the installer. Those documents are more useful than a generic recommendation based only on the appearance of the roof. They may set out permitted cleaning methods and limitations. If you cannot find the documents, ask the installer or manufacturer rather than guess which products or tools are suitable.
A visible mark on a panel does not by itself establish a fault or explain the system's output. Cleaning, electrical inspection and performance diagnosis are different tasks. If your concern is a warning message or an unexpected change in generation, discuss the system with an appropriate specialist rather than assuming a wash is the answer.
Describe the installation and access
A ground-mounted array and panels on a house roof present different access considerations. For a roof installation, height, pitch, surrounding buildings and the space below all matter. Explain where the panels are positioned and whether a conservatory, extension or narrow passage sits underneath. Do not climb onto the roof simply to take photographs for an enquiry.
Keep any ground-level photographs broad enough to show the building and working space as well as the panels. If you know the panel model or installer, include that information. Describe the issue without claiming that it requires a particular method: debris, visible soiling and a suspected electrical problem should not be grouped together as one cleaning request.
Do not carry over a patio cleaning method
We pressure wash paving, but solar panels need an approach suited to the installation. Roof coverings, electrical equipment and panel surfaces have their own requirements. Any proposed work should be checked against the relevant system guidance. Do not assume equipment used on a driveway is suitable for a solar array.
Questions about brushes, cleaning agents and water should be answered in relation to the actual installation, not with a universal recipe. Ask the person proposing the work how their method fits the manufacturer's instructions and what is excluded. Avoid promises that one cleaning technique is right for every panel or guarantees a particular increase in generation.
Cleaning and electrical maintenance are separate
An enquiry about dirt on panels should not be treated as permission to adjust cables, connectors or the mounting system. If damage is visible or a system issue has been reported, make that clear before any cleaning is discussed. The appropriate next step may be assessment by the installer or another qualified specialist rather than surface work.
Isolation, roof access and electrical repairs need someone responsible for the system and competent for the work involved. Keep people away from unsafe access arrangements and do not attempt a roof-level inspection to help prepare a quote. A description from a safe position is enough to begin asking questions.
